A.T. Still University's Kirksville's College of Osteopathic Medicine (ATSU-KCOM) invites applications for a non-exempt Clinical Education Coordinator on the Kirksville, MO campus. This position reports to the AHEC Director & Associate Director to manage and coordinate KCOM's curriculum in the third and fourth years at the Kirksville/Northeast Missouri site, and provides administrative coordination and support for KCOM and AHEC clinical education programs facilitated through the AHEC office.

This individual will be responsible in assisting AHEC, Clinical Affairs and DSME leadership to manage all aspects of 3rd &4th year medical student as it pertains to the coordination of site rotations in listed areas. The major areas of responsibility for this position are: 1) coordinating programs and support for students completing KCOM's third and fourth year curriculum at the Kirksville site, 2) providing administrative and programmatic support for other clinical training activities of the ATSU- KCOM AHEC office, 3) Regional site coordinating including Hannibal and Quincy and 4) maintaining an accurate account of student rotations in the appropriate electronic tracking programs. This position will be located on campus as a residential appointment with limited telecommuting availability.

Major Job Duties:
  • Manage the infrastructure (materials, files, recordkeeping) and prepare applications, letters of good standing/malpractice, and other required paperwork for core, required, and elective rotations for Kirksville 3rd and 4th year students.
  • When coordinating rotations through hospitals and preceptor offices, assure that all rotations are scheduled through communication with facility schedulers.
  • Answer questions of students regarding rotations in terms of place, time, date, and requirements.
  • Act as first line of communications with medical students in terms of rotations, concerns, and problems. Direct medical student to DSME for resolution of problems or matters unrelated to schedule.
  • Use the University identified electronic tracking program as required to maintain accurate rotation and student information including verification of monthly audit reports.
  • Maintain current telephone and address list of students.
  • Assist in planning/organization/coordination of continuing education classes for third and fourth year medical students.
  • Ensure completion of clinical evaluation forms, preceptor & clerkship evaluation forms and logs.
  • Maintain confidentiality of all records.
  • Provide regular feedback and input to AHEC/Clinical Affairs/DSME leadership regarding rotation status, operational issues, and needed support to manage the coordination of medical student rotations.
  • Routinely attend on-line Zoom session meetings with main campus and regional representatives.
  • Communicate with preceptors to inform/confirm all student activities.
  • Assist DSME in planning and implementing didactic and evaluation programs to meet requirements from Clinical Affairs.
  • Maintain database of active preceptors for medical students and KCOM administration.
  • Assist in planning and organization of didactic education opportunities for 3rd and 4th year medical students, i.e., Missouri Region Lecture series.
  • Facilitate scheduling and proctor post-rotation exams for students.
  • Generate reports related to assigned students as needed or requested.
  • College degree or equivalent experience; degree preferred in management, education, health care or related field.
  • If the individual does not have a degree in a healthcare field, experience in a medical or other healthcare environment is required.
  • One to two years' experience in written and oral communication with a variety of audiences and education levels.
  • Experience in medical education environment is preferred.
  • Extensive computer skills, including proficiency with Windows and Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Access, and Powerpoint).
  • Excellent organizational, written and oral communication skills.
  • Excellent attention to detail.
  • Able to work effectively individually and in teams.
  • Able to communicate with individuals at various educational levels in academic, healthcare, and community settings.
