Content Writer & Social Media Coordinator

Job Summary:

The University of San Francisco seeks a highly-motivated, energetic and team-orientated individual to fill the position of Content Writer at one of the nation's leading Jesuit institutions. This is a full-time, 12-month position with full University benefits. The successful candidate will be responsible for managing publicity aspects surrounding USF's 15-sport Division I intercollegiate athletic program, with emphasis on sports determined by the Senior Associate Athletic Director, External Relations.

Job Responsibilities:

Manage publicity efforts for assigned sports.
Provide support, as additional content specialist for mens and womens basketball coverage.
Write and post event previews and recaps on departments official website USFDons.com.
Write and edit of student-athlete bios, game notes and news releases for assigned sports.
Staff home athletic events for sports determined by the Senior Associate Athletic Director, External Relations.
In charge of various social media initiatives for assigned sport teams.
Produce game handouts for home athletic events.
Manage various statistical and historical research projects as assigned.
Facilitate various requests from coaching staffs, the West Coast Conference and NCAA.
Facilitate requests from local and national media outlets.
Write and edit on-line record books for assigned sports.
Write and post feature content for athletics website, including Q-As, alumni features, etc.
Maintain historical records and statistics for assigned sports.
Report statistics and award nominations to WCC office.
Proactively share story ideas on USFs student-athletes and teams with media.
Develop and maintain positive working relationships with local, regional and national media covering USF Athletics.
Promote student-athletes for various national and conference awards.
Maintenance of various photo files and historical archives, copying of game day materials.
Other duties as assigned.

Minimum Requirements:

Bachelors degree required, Masters preferred, with emphasis on journalism, public relations, communications or related field a plus.
4 years of increasingly responsible experience in administration support work or related education including at least two years in a administrative support role. Preferred, experience in a sports information/communications athletic department.
Proficiency with Stat Crew, preferred experience with InDesign and Photo Shop software.
Excellent verbal, written, organizational and interpersonal communication skills.
Experience in feature writing, game coverage, copy editing and proof reading.
Well-versed in social media communications including Twitter, Instagram, Facebook, YouTube
Must possess versatility in story-telling integrating print, social media, graphics, and video production
Experience in graphic production is preferred.
Willingness to work weekends and nights and potential travel with assigned team.
Ability to present a professional demeanor while delivering a high-level of customer service.
Knowledge of NCAA rules and experience working in an atmosphere of NCAA compliance.
