Per diem positions may work a set schedule or be on call to work as needed based on caseload. They are primarily responsible for the delivery of health care services to students.


Accountabilities:
Currently, the Colgate Student Health Center has partnered with other departments on campus to provide preemptive, routine COVID-19 screening for the entire Colgate campus. This includes all students, faculty, and staff.

Mid-level practitioners assist colleagues in overseeing the COVID-19 testing areas as well as managing members of the testing team.
Performs assessments as needed prior to administering COVID-19 testing.
Performs simple laboratory testing for COVID-19 and administers injections.
Counsels and educates students, faculty, and staff in preventative and self-care.

The effective and accurate care of patients including diagnosing illnesses and injuries, developing treatment plans, prescribing medication, administering medical treatments, referring to other health care professionals as needed, and appropriate follow up on each of these interventions.

Performing emergency procedures as necessary.

Counseling and educating patients/students on medical/personal problems.

Follow policy/procedure with respect to documentation and communicating student health information to impacted stakeholders.

Creating and managing specific treatment plans as assigned, eg. women's health treatment plans.

Ensuring key stakeholders in on-campus wellness programs receive effective training and guidance on relevant student health topics.

Participate in Department, Division, and/or campus committees.

Other duties as assigned.


Professional Experience/Qualifications
At least three years of clinical experience as a PA/NP required.

Preferred Qualifications
Previous experience working with a diverse patient population, within a fast-paced clinical setting, and experience with EMR software systems;
Previous experience working with adolescents and college-aged students


Education
Maintenance of New York State licensure as well as National Certification as a Physician Assistant (NCCPA) or Nurse Practitioner (ANCC/AANPCP/AACN) with regular and DEA prescriptive privileges.


Other Information
Current AHA BLS/AED Provider certification is required for hire and must be renewed.
