Key Job Responsibilities
The Student Health Center Coordinator is responsible for planning, organizing, and overseeing the activities of the Health Services program, including medical care, mental health, and health education activities, and coordinating the delivery of comprehensive health services to students in accordance with state and federal program regulations.
There is currently one full time, tenure-track position at Ventura College.
This position will begin in the Spring 2024 semester.
Please note that all academic employees of the District are scheduled depending upon staffing needs as defined within the terms of the VCCCD/AFT Agreement. Nontraditional assignments such as evening, weekend, or off-site assignments may be made with consent of faculty member, management or when special conditions exist on a campus as defined.

Established in 1925, Ventura College was one of the first community colleges in California and currently has an enrollment of 12,000 students. Located approximately 60 miles north of Los Angeles and 30 miles south of Santa Barbara, the 112-acre campus is set in the rolling hills of Ventura - so close to the ocean that there is a clear view of the Channel Islands from several spots on campus.

Coordinate delivery of comprehensive health services to students in accordance with state and federal program regulations. E
Plan, organize, and oversee the activities of the Health Services program (including medical care, mental health and health education activities). Includes hiring and coordination of all work schedules. E
Assess, intervene, and refer students with chronic illness, disease, and physical or emotional conditions to community health organizations for screening and treatment as necessary.
Monitor and evaluate program goals, objectives, achievements, and effectiveness; collect, analyze and maintain health information, student records, and statistical data; prepare reports related to program operations, activities and progress as required by college district, county, state, and federal regulations.
Assist license medical care providers in providing care to sick and injured students; administer first aid and initial emergency care, and provide crisis intervention. E
Prepare budgets, monitor status of program funds and account for proper expenditures. E
Report health and safety issues to assigned administrator and appropriate agency for the purpose of maintaining student's personal safety, community safety, promoting a positive learning environment, and compliance with regulatory requirements. E.
Plan and assist in delivering health education programs that promote wellness and the prevention of illness and injury; distribute information campus-wide regarding communicable disease control programs and services. E
Counsel students on health conditions and lifestyle issues (e.g. mental health, pregnancy, sexually transmitted disease, substance abuse, etc.) for the purpose of facilitating a healthier student population.
Review and process student accident insurance claims. E
Provide input to assigned Supervisor evaluating the performance of program staff. E
Provide work direction to others. E
Perform related duties as assigned.

Candidates must possess the minimum qualifications for the discipline as approved by the California Community Colleges Board of Governors and defined in the Minimum Qualifications for Faculty and Administrators in California Community Colleges handbook
Master's degree in nursing and a California Public Health Nurse certificate; OR Bachelor's degree in nursing, a California Public Health Nurse certificate, and a master's degree in health education, sociology, psychology, counseling, health care administration, public health or community health: OR the equivalent*; OR possession of an appropriate California Community College Credential.
Preferred qualification' Nurse Practitioner
(NOTE: Other health services personnel shall not be subject to statewide minimum qualifications; however, all personnel shall possess appropriate valid, current licensure or certification to practice in California when required by law. Ancillary personnel shall work under appropriate supervision when required by their license laws.)
All coursework must be from a recognized accredited college or university.

The Ventura County Community College District, in its desire to select outstanding faculty members from the largest possible pool of qualified applicants, recognizes the fact that candidates may attain expertise in a discipline through a variety of means. Certain combinations of education, experience and other accomplishments in the field may be judged by the District as equal to the stated minimum qualifications for this position.
Candidates whose transcripts do not list the title of their degree exactly as listed above, but feel they possess such equivalent qualifications are encouraged to complete and submit the Supplemental Questionnaire for Equivalency with their application for review by the Districtwide Equivalency Committee.
Minimum Qualifications state: "Master's degree in agriculture".
Candidate's transcripts state: "Master's degree in agricultural science".
Since the degree on the candidate's transcripts in the example do not EXACTLY MATCH the degree listed in the minimum qualifications section, this candidate MUST complete the Supplemental Questionnaire for Equivalency in order to be considered. When completing the form, be sure to explain in detail how your qualifications are equivalent to the required minimum qualifications. Do not assume that you do not need to submit a Supplemental Questionnaire for Equivalency because your degree is similar to a degree stated in the minimum qualifications. Degree titles that are not an exact match will not be considered outside of the equivalency process.
The equivalency review is an independent process for district wide disciplines that is separate from the recruitment process to fill a vacancy. A subcommittee of discipline experts that is coordinated by an Academic Senate President will review the equivalency materials and make a recommendation as to whether or not the applicant demonstrated they have qualifications that are equivalent to those shown in the minimum qualifications section of the job posting. For disciplines that are unique to a specific campus the equivalency may be done by the hiring committee along with an Academic Senate President. Please be aware that the hiring committee may not be able to wait for the results from the equivalency review due to various time constraints and may need to move forward with the recruitment process.

Annual salary is based on an eleven month contract. Salary is commensurate with academic preparation and experience for placement on the salary schedule.
