Job Description:

The School of Nursing at Stony Brook University invites/seeks applications for one full-time clinical faculty position to teach in the Undergraduate program. Psychiatic or mental health experience is preferred to enhance curricular concepts across four spheres of care (prevention/promotion of health and well-being, chronic illness care, critical/trauma care and hospice/palliative care).

As a Clinical Instructor/Clinical Assistant/Clinical Associate Professor you are expected to contribute to the educational, research, clinical and community service mission of the School of Nursing. The school of nursing clinical faculty are leaders in the implementation of innovative student-centered teaching and learning strategies for the development of strong clinical reasoning skills in graduates. Candidates who excel in the delivery of online and hybrid teaching formats are strongly encouraged to apply.

All candidates should be prepared to pursue the Scholarship of Teaching in the development of critically reflective knowledge about teaching and learning. Such an approach emphasizes the development, testing, and dissemination of advances in both pedagogy and andragogy. Candidates at the Clinical Assistant/Clinical Associate Professor level are also expected to contribute to the tripartate mission of a major research-intensive university by contributing to the research and/or practice/service mission of the university. This position may provide/allows options to continue to engage in clinical practice opportunities.

All candidates should be prepared to mentor students as future nurse leaders, be committed to fostering diversity, equity and inclusion, and foster collaborative interdisciplinary learning experiences that expand student understanding of patient-centered care.

Qualifications
Required Qualifications:

Doctoral Degree (Earned or In Progress).

Valid NY State Professional Nurse License.

Preferred Qualifications:

Recent Psychiatric or Mental Health Experience.

Upper Division Teaching Experience.
