The University of Utah's Department of Radiation Oncology seeks a dynamic individual to join a strong team of medical physics faculty. The successful applicant will join an existing team of 13 medical physicists, 14 radiation oncologists, 11 certified medical dosimetrists, 2 medical physics residents and 4 medical physics assistants.

Commensurate with experience and skill set, an appointment at the Assistant or Associate Professor rank on either a Clinical or Tenure Line Track in the School of Medicine is anticipated.

Located in beautiful Salt Lake City and set against the backdrop of the snow-covered Wasatch mountains within minutes of 7 world class ski resorts, the department has a tradition of academic and clinical excellence. The Department of Radiation Oncology occupies a spacious 30,000 square feet on the ground floor of the beautiful Huntsman Cancer Hospital. The Huntsman Cancer Institute is an NCI Designated Comprehensive Cancer Center and a member of the prestigious NCCN network of cancer centers.

Duties:
The successful faculty candidate will possess strong clinical skills along with research and teaching interests. Clinical duties will entail customary support and QA responsibilities of a clinical medical physicist. These responsibilities will include, but not be limited to, multiple aspects of clinical support and QA related to linear accelerator calibration, stereotactic and image guidance process QA, brachytherapy (LDR, HDR and Eye) support and potential for proton support. Our expectation is that the candidate will be a valuable member of our research team and will begin to participate immediately in academic projects. It is also expected that the candidate will be a valuable member of our teaching team and will share responsibilities related to our physician residency program and our CAMPEP accredited medical physics residency program.

Qualifications:
Qualified candidates will have a PhD degree in Medical Physics with Board Certification in Therapy Medical Physics from the American Board of Radiology or will be Board eligible.

Facilities:
Mevion single vault pencil beam scanning with CT on Rails imaging with roughly 50% of treated patients being pediatrics. A Varian Halcyon system with new Enhanced Cone Beam CT feature, along with a planned future upgrade to Ethos Adaptive Planning. Six total linear accelerators (4 HCH + 2 satellites), including a Varian Edge stereotactic machine with ExacTrac Dynamic and Varian Identify Surface Guidance, along with 4 other Varian True Beams. Two Siemens 64 slice large bore Dual energy CT's (one currently being installed), with 4D, iMAR and Iterative reconstruction are used for simulation within the department. Active HDR brachytherapy (Elekta-Nucletron), prostate LDR and Eye Brachy programs are in operation. Varian Eclipse, BrainLab Elements, and RaySearch external beam treatment planning systems are in use, along with Variseed for prostate seed implants, Nucletron Oncentra for HDR and Aria Record & Verify. Very active IMRT, IMRS/stereotactic and SBRT programs are in place.
