Sr. MRI Technologist
General Summary/Purpose

This is a Senior Research MRI technologist position. The successful candidate will report to the Director and will perform research magnetic resonance imaging of organs or organ systems for research studies. The successful candidate is also expected to perform a small number of clinical MRI scans. The employee will coordinate with research teams for their scanning needs and help transfer MRI data to researchers and physicians. The employee will orient researcher, physicians, and trainees to ensure safety and compliance to regulations. In conjunction with the Director, the employee will also be responsible for organizing, managing and directing operations of the imaging facility.

Specific Duties & Responsibilities

  • Perform research MRI scans
  • Perform a small number of clinical MRI scans
  • Communicate and coordinate with research teams on their scanning needs
  • Test MRI protocol and perform simple debugging of problems
  • Use computer to schedule scans, confirm scans, transfer MRI images, and other routine administrative duties
  • Provide regular updates to Director or Manager on issues, progresses, and suggestions
  • Ensure that all safety and regulatory policies are followed
  • Working with the Director, the successful candidate will be responsible for solving problems relating to patients, staff, and scheduling, and will manage day-to-day operations of the imaging facility.


Minimum Qualifications

Requires completion of an AMA approved program in Radiologic Technology or equivalent, which normally is acquired in a two-year college or technical school program.

Licensure/Certifications:

Advanced ARRT MRI certification required.

CPR certification required within three months of employment.

Preferred Qualifications

Bachelor's degree preferred.

One year of clinical or research MRI experience preferred.

The pre-employment physical for positions in clinical areas, laboratories, working with research subjects, or involving community contact requires documentation of immune status against Rubella (German measles), Rubeola (Measles), Mumps, Varicella (chickenpox), Hepatitis B and documentation of having received the Tdap (Tetanus, diphtheria, pertussis) vaccination. This may include documentation of having two (2) MMR vaccines; two (2) Varicella vaccines; or antibody status to these diseases from laboratory testing. Blood tests for immunities to these diseases are ordinarily included in the pre-employment physical exam except for those employees who provide results of blood tests or immunization documentation from their own health care providers. Any vaccinations required for these diseases will be given at no cost in our Occupational Health office.
